Sita Ram Diwan Chand, Pahar Ganj, New Delhi

" Sita Ram Diwan Chand " The name says it all this is an epic choley bhaturey place running since 3 generations ( As told by the owner of the shop; who is ready to render his Royal throne to his Younger son very Soon)

This place was highly recommended by a lot of friends and Zomato as this place was Featured in STREET FOOD COLLECTION so better not waiting I decided to visit this place with one of my friends and as it was a first and a random decision in the morning I called my friend and strictly informed him not to have his breakfast and as I was new to the place my friend guided me to this place which would have been very difficult for me to find without his help!

So as soon as we entered this place we saw a big banner of Sita Ram Diwan Chand and as soon as we were about to enter a man of my dad's age was loading his scooter with the highest possible 2 piles of Sita Ram Diwan Chand's special Choley Bhaturey Packs and my friends just out of curiosity asked him, "Lagta hai Uncle ko bohot pasand hai ye jagah?" to which he heard him and replied, "Beta Office mein aaj party hai to taking aal of this stuff for them as inse badhiya Choley Bhaturey koi nahi banata!"

Being Damn excited as soon as we entered we saw the popularity of the place as there was one dedicated wall of awards (Including HT City EATING OUT GUIDE 2009 AWARD) , recommendations, place being featured in every local newspapers. So was damn impressed by the first look and the feel no wonders why Uncle was praising this place soo much.

I entered the place I saw Mr. Chand the shop owner welcoming 2 guys with his lovely smile and asking us, "how many plates son?" was very welcoming I took a round of the place and it was fresh fried bhaturas with their choley. and we got our order in just like 5 mins which was quick!

Without waiting we dig into our plates and frankly speaking the bhatura's were heavy filled with Panner stuffing spongy but obviously oily but not too much. The main USP was their Choley as it has a very mild, Medium Spiced (Which was made
taking care of all kind of Mouth Pallates, which is good), quite smooth textured I mean simply cannot explain the taste as they were amazing...!

The only thing that bothers me was the lack of space and no sitting aarangments as one only can stand and have these bhtura's the typical dhaba standards that might be also the reason that Zomato has added this place for the STREET FOOD CATEGORY! but all in all it was damn good experience and I personally like them so much that I decided to get another Half plate packed for me as it was cheap. And when I was at their Packing counter I saw doesn't matter that how big is your order they have various king of packaging style from a family pack to one person each lunch box packs which was very good to know but Just to let you know they may charge you extra for packing in the boxes or special parcels. But its worth it!
then Finally we again met Mr. Chand we thanked him to serve us one of the best plate of Choley Bhaturey we have ever had and I decided to plan my next Food Destination.

Kumar Samose waala was actually recommended to me by one of my relative they told me about this place as I am writing reviews and foodblog (foodietreasure.blogspot.in) they told me about this place that serves a wide range of samosas including paneer tikka samosa, macaroni samosa, Malai Paneer Samosa, Tandoori Aalo samosa, Chowmein samosa and hell lot of varieties.

As soon as i heard of this place I planned to go this place with my Dad we went to this place in the evening and with the expert directions and experience to travel whole Delhi so for me it was easy to reach.

This place is located in the residential area opposite Moti Nagar so you get an ample space for car parking.

this place is a small samosa shop as you may wonder any local halwai frying samosas in rocket fuel with his huge Kadhai... when i reached this place it was already crowded with tuiton students and couples and a group of friends visited this place from i believe from Punjabi bagh.

as you may see in the pictures I have had almost all of their varieties okay let me tell you what i had

1. Tandoori Panner

2. Tandoori Aaloo

3. Macaroni red sauce

4. Malai Paneer

5. Mix Veg and so onn....

The beauty of these samosas is that they are non oily and very light as compared to any other local samosas. Samosas were already made and was lying in a giant tray and trust me you wont be able to catch that which samosa exist where and how come you will get your correct order but all of this was finely managed by a owner couple Mr and Mrs. Kumar as you may see them in the pics, They serve these somosas with love and this shop is very old as told me by Mr. Kumar (Uncle) on top of all you are served these sompsas with lots of love and trust me prices are very cheap as well Rs. 20 for any new flavour and Rs.10 only for Aaloo samosa.

Mitra Da Dhaba, West Patel Nagar, New Delhi

You know wherever you are returning late night from the work or may be after a long stay back at friends house or any important work you may have, or whenever you have to cook if you stay as a PG or on a rent (Which luckily I have not any of these cases as I belong to Delhi) but, I've a lot of friends who came from various cities of India like Sikkim, Nagaland, Agra etc; they stay at west patel nagar as a lot of people have given their places for rent and for PG as soon as you enter West Patel Nagar Main market.

You see this crazy narrow lane not that too narrow atleast it can compensate two way car traffic (Somehow) there are a lot of DHAABA's as one single chain right next to each other. If you visit do not get confused as almost all of these DHABAS shares almost the same punjabi flavours and cusine influence.

As I stay at West Patel Nagar I went to this place called MITRA DA DHAABA (Friend's Restuarant < as we translate in english >) When i entered it was evening and there was very great fragrance of food and that too tandoor was my main attraction i gone through the Menu and I ordered

1. Half Plate Stuffed Tandoori Chaap : It has two GIANT peices of Tandoori Chaap coated with I believe cornflour and chaap was stuffed with rich filling of cottage cheese aka paneer, kaaju aka cashew and Khoya to add a bit of sweetnes to the dish all in all it has a rich mild taste to which I thought it would be light on my belly but trust me it was a bit heavey in my belly and my next thought was that how would I make the space for another half plate of Amritsari chaap half plate that I've already ordered.

2. Half Plate Amritsari Chaap : This was VERY SPICY which would be a Warning! after having a mild and Tandoori flavour that soothes your taste buds it was an electric shock to my pallate as it was very spicey in first go still I thought i would give it a go to finish my plate at first i was taking it as a snack plate but later it was tasting like a main course sabzi to have with the naan or roti wich was a bit of my mistake but as I asked the restuarant owner he said it was a snack but to me it was not.

Talking about the ambiance this place is a typical dhaba so do not expect a fancy layout as the wall was breaking with the pain A/C was there but was not working luckily fan did worked was spacious but as it was evening you would not see anyone sitting inside the dhaaba and having lunch dinner or evening snack unlike me as i had to write a review for the place. But the main reason for the same would be as the place is located in the midst of the residential area of West Patel Nagar and the restuarant believes more in delivery.

Truth was that my tummy was upto the brim and it costed me Rs. 170 which was a bit light on my pocket and the good thing was the ending as they gave me their local Saunf mixture for as you get in every typical Dhaaba.

P.S - If you are coming in a car try find your own parking place as i told you the lane only accomodates 2 way running traffic no parking space. If you are on a bike or a scooter then it fine you may get a bit of space in front of the dhaaba.

Barbeque Nation, Janakpuri, New Delhi

NOTE : THIS REVIEW IS A BIT LENGTHY BUT DO READ IT, ITS INTERESTING!

This was the first time I was visiting any outlet of Barbeque nation so was a bit excited by listening to the people review about the place, Hospitality and so on. That too for particularly their Janakpuri outlet.

Well to start with as I seen in the reviews that this place is a bit crowded place so it would be better for me to reserve the table before visiting as I hate waiting in the restaurants. So visited my ZOMATO app and took their number and called them for booking my table.

As it was pre-planned I booked a table for two only for me and my father but later on due to some change it went from 2 people to 4 so i called back the same number as it was told to me that I can also Alter my reservation according to the requirement but to my surprise A guy picked up the call and said, "Sir! Aapke naam pe koi bhi table booked nahi hai." to which I was like SHOCKED!

I replied to the guy doing reservations still keeping my calm, "Koi baat nahi please dobaara reserve kar lo on my name but do it for four this time please" to which the guy replied, "Done Sir!"

just to check if it was really booked a day after i called back to confirm the same and SURPRISE! SURPRISE! the table wasn't booked again and this time it was too much as i questioned the staff that, "Hows this possible meine jab reservation karwaya tha to aapne assure kiya tha ki ho gaya table book and 2 baar confirm bhi hua hai but its not" and i was been replied by their staff, "Abhi phir se kar leta hoon reserve" as I was angry i asked them could I speak to their Manager and guy replied, " Sir, Aana hai ya nahi ye batao mein khud relationship manager hoon!" I was bugged up i re-dialed complaint the same to another staff and they apologized and confirmed reservation was there and I would received a callback on 11 in the morning to confirm the same.

In the morning I received no confirmation call. Pissed off I visited their restaurant and spoke to their Manager about the same experience they were very apologetic and said that they keep a track of all the conversation they will definitely fix it and would come back to us and in the mean time he showed us our table.

FYI : NO MANAGER CAME BACK AS PROMISED WHILE DINING ALSO I DID RECEIVED THE CONFIRMATION BUT AFTER FINISHING OUT BRUNCH!

The only this that make me give this review 4 STARS is their Serving Staff, Great Food & Ambiance.

As thought it was an unlimited starters and in the lunch we had FREE COMPLIMENTARY DRINK its your choice if you wanna take one Beer or any choice of mock tails.

The Beginning was amazing as the food was inspired by the Chef Pat Chapman which has a very earthy taste in almost all the flavors which I personally like.

My Veg Favorite was Grilled Mushroom & Corn & Beans Salad as of starters and Non-veg Favorite was Prawns, Chicken Drumsticks and mutton kebabs, Only fish was a bit weird flavor for me was something new taste and very light and must try on the menu.

In Main course Veg Pulav & Nargisi Kofta was amazing and in Non-Veg Mexican Chicken & Mutton Korma was my favorite & to go with it I took Garlic Naan as a bread

Sweet dish varieties was awesome mu personal favorite was Caramel Pie & Mexican Macrons. Their Rainbow cake was a bit wierd as it was giving a feeling of a whole wheat bread topped up with jam and soaked in sugar syrup. but otherwise everything was good.

It was overall a YUM journey and the staff was very co-operative and whatever you ask them to repeat without any question they bought it for you and keep on asking you for anything or more even the manager sometimes passing by saw that we did not had a water in our glasses so he was kind enough to refill our glasses but make sure please do mention before that if you would prefer less or more spices as accordingly they would do the servings.
