The Great Kebab Factory - Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi

The Great Kebab Factory is definitely one of its kind place as it is the only place where all your craving for best kebabs get over. I planned this place as i really had urgent craving for Kebabs. And everyone on this planet called "Earth" knows that if a foodie is craving to have something he /she will have it for sure. :P

How to reach?

To reach this outlet for The Great Kebab Factory you need to make your way for Radisson Blu, Mahipalpur. The best and the easiest way to reach Mahipalpur is through the Taxi or your own vehicle as there is no nearby metro connectivity. So, I took a Taxi and simply reached the restaurant withing 45 Mins approximately and after discount it costed me 250 Rs only.

Ambiance

Oh C'mon! We're talking about a 5 star property and if I talk about the ambiance then it would not be justified as I won't be able to describe so beautifully in words. but still if I really do have to write about it so I would simply say that the place is simply marvelous to look at. Huge & Luxurious exteriors and interiors are doing their magic for sure. Moreover if i talk particularly about the ambiance of The Great Kebab factory then I would rather prefer saying that it was more of like a mughal look interior and has a backdrop of raw walls deliberated on the side and if I look at the roof it is simply bright and energetic. To add on, I was there for a lunch so there was a beautiful view of their swimming pool was making it more brilliant and was creating a beautiful and a wonderful Vibe in totality.

Food & Drinks

First of all to start with I would like to tell you about the rates of the place as you might be first of all very curious to know that how much this lavish lunch would cost you approx. right? So, Don't need to worry at all as this beautiful and delectable Buffet Brunch shall cost you Rs 2050 ++ for Vegetarian Sunday Brunch and Rs 2250 ++ for Non-Vegetarian Sunday Brunch.

Talking in particularly about the food, as already told all of you that the place has a lot to offer everyone. so we started from some of the best starters like...

* GALOUTI KEBEB : Which is self explanatory that these were made to melt in mouth and indeed tasted very awesome and was served with thin roti to be accompanied with it. Trust me friends if I would have visited there alone I would have really ask for the repetition for this at least 10 times. But, I know it was not practically possible as I've to had a lot of varieties coming up next.

* CURRYPATTEY KA JHINGA : Which was actually an abridged version of a prawn dish in South Indian style flavored with Curry Patta aka Curry leaves. It was very new as a taste as i never had prawns made South Indian Style. But, it tasted amazingly well.

* LAGAN KI BOTI : This was actually Mutton chunks cooked like a semi gravy style but most of it was dry so that it could be served as one of the starters but has a very strong flavor of coriander leafs as there was a lot of raw freshly chopped coriander in it which was very prominent in the dish and was really killing up the whole flavor and the only taste I can have was coriander leaves as coriander was very overpowering the whole soul of it!

* MURGH MALAI TIKKA : It was one of the best tikka I've ever had so far. Perfectly marinated and I could really do taste more of ginger-garlic paste and loads of malai stuffed making the overall dish very rich to have which is really a good sign for that tikka.

* TALI MACHCHI : Simply called as fried fish in hot oil and was served with the varieties of chutney's. It was good but was not like above average or you might have to be improvised as a dish mainly as it was very basic as a dish.

* GHOSHT BIRYANI : All of my friends knows that I am very strict about flavors of Biryani and if it is not made good then it is really not will be appreciated by me. Truly speaking this Biryani was definitely one of the best one as this was the first time I could really taste the royal kesari flavor. The ghosht (Mutton Chunks) were awesomely flavorful and was simply melts into your mouth. You have to trust me on the fact if I say that this dish was simply irresistible.

* PHALDHAARI CHAAT : This was actually a fruit chaat made in house with the special chilly dressing making it more amazing and quite different from a normal fruit chaat. But, definately was good and refreshing and the fruits used in the chaat were also exotic to some extent and was not at all boring as you might expect from any regular fruit chaat instead you would love to have it more. I can say this as all of my vegetarian friends have asked a repeat for the same.

* MIRCH DUM ANARI : This dish was actually not tasted by me as this dish contains capsicum and I am an anti capsicum guy. What all I can tell you is that this was actually stuffed capsicum dish which was stuffed with a lot of veggies and anaardaana. That might be the reason the dish has been named as Mirch Dum Anaari.

* AMRITSARI PANEER TIKKA : This was actually Amritsari style marinated Paneer Tikka which was mildly spiced but was very good on flavors and as well would like to mention that the cottage cheese used in the dish was very good and was very soft, smooth and fresh. Moreover what I felt that after the paneer tikka was been prepared in the tandoor it was also a bit pan seared to get it flavoured till perfection. The taste was good and for vegetarians definately a good option.

* DAL TADKA & CHAWAL : I gave it a good thought and asked myself that weather should I write about it or not but then I thought that I really should write about my real experiences as this is all what I am here to share with my fellow foodies. So, would like to confess that at Radisson Blu (5 STAR RESTAURANT PROPERTY) i had their special Dal Tadka with Chawal and that too without using any spoon or a fork as I really felt an urge to have it from my hands as when i tasted the Dal it made me remind of the old times when I was not a Food Blogger and not even a Big Foodie. So, decided not to stop myself in any manner and I digged into my plate with my hands. I admit that it was quite awkward for the people sitting suited booted around me but being a crazy foodie really do not care what other will think as I was not giving any problem to them and everyone knows that no one on this earth can stop a hungry foodie.

DESSERTS

If I talk about the desserts the options were endless and all of them are like not to be ignored. When it comes to dessert then I refuse missing anything from the available list. But here it was a buffet So, can't say no to anything :P

The desserts section had varieties like Tinka Kulfi, Malai Chaap (Cham-Cham), Boondi ki phirni, Balushahi, Jalebi with Rabri & NOT TO FORGET (Special Vark Paan). All I would like to say about their desserts is that I am still salivating while writing this review and the same taste has took place in my mouth all over again. Rest if you would really like to experience the truth and delectable food journey then I would suggest you to book your table and visit the place. :)

FINAL VERDICT

All in all a very good place for foodies as well for non foodies who want to get involved in a long lasting conversation over food with their friends, family or Loved Ones. A very good place to date as well, as the restaurant has a very nice vibe, ambiance and food too. The quality is definitely not been compromised anywhere and the best part is that after you're done with the food and still want to extend you talks then you can visit R The Lounge for a cup of coffee or a tea as an option as I really did the same that day as I was in a mood to chill out and celebrate my Shiny Sunday Afternoon. Shall be visiting the place again for sure as soon as I get another chance. :)

MY FINAL RATING

4.5 STARS out of 5 STARS and a must visit and must recommended place for all age groups. :)

The Junkyard Cafe, Connaught Place

The Junkyard Cafe is a newly opened property in Connaught Place. Heard a lot about its existence through social media. Since then was really very eager and excited to visit the place and finally I was there to see this unique concept and taste the food.

How To Reach : As The Junkyard Cafe is located in CP the best, easiest and the fastest way to be here is through the Metro. You may take metro from any nearby metro station till Rajiv Chowk Metro Station and exit from Gate No. 1 from there it is just a 5 minutes walk. To be very precise then if you've ever visited The Town House Cafe or Barbeque Nation then take the same lift to the 3rd floor and once you're there walk towards your right. There you'll see The Junkyard Cafe.

Ambiance : Talking about the ambiance this restaurant, as the name suggests is actually Junkyard Theme based all over the place. Starting from the walls to the pillars, Main dining area to the restroom everything was very apt to its name as if we talk about the walls then you can see almost anything that you couldn't have imagined from the car number plates to a crooked copy of the very famous Mona Lisa Painting. If I talk about the pillars then it was made up of the recycled giant and painted truck tires and even if I simply talk about the roof then it was simply made up of recycled empty beer bottles (SEE PICTURES FOR THE REFERENCE) and if I talk about the sofa's then you'll be not be surprised if you would have thought that you will see the unmatched irregularity as every table have a different design all together. So, a very good and experimental ambiance and indeed a very new design that I've ever seen and definitely a very big thumbs up for that thought and effort.

Drinks :

The best drink that I loved out of the whole menu was from the Edison Bulb Yard which is actually named so because the drink that I was been served was in a bulb shaped glass and was served chilled on a dry ice and hence was indeed looking beautiful. The drink that I had was actually a perfect delicious blend of white rum, elderflower, vanilla, sugar, lime juice and rosemary. FYI (Elderflower cordial is a soft drink made largely from a refined sugar and water solution and uses the flowers of the European elderberry).

Food :

STARTERS

As we were bunch of crazy foodie friends we ordered like a king an tasted a lot of food options like,

* SAUSAGE MUSHROOM CAPS - Which was actually huge button mushrooms stuffed with sausages and cheese and baked till perfection and the best part was that in their menu every item has its Calorie count for the dish and this dish had a calorie count of 73 and costed Rs 345+++

* LAMB SEEK KEBAB : It was very moist, tender and frsh and could be really judged as if they were made straight out of the kitchen and are not outsourced from anywhere. Costed Rs 365+++

* MURGH MALAI TIKKA : Again very tender and could really taste the proper marination of ginger and garlic paste as i really can imagine when it comes to a perfect Malai Tikka. Definitely not the best but not even upsetting as it was very close to one of my favourite Malai Tikka place in town. The only difference was that thise tikka's were a bit more cooked well in a tandoor and their juicies were all seeped well inside every piece. Costed Rs 325+++

* VEG & NON VEG SUSHI PLATTER : Both the sushi platters have different varities of sushi among them. The most commonly known were Ebi Tempura, California Rolls, Prawn, Asparagus, Shiitake mushroom etc. The sushi's were all average except for few flavors and some of the common mistakes that I could figure out was (Which was not to be ignored at all) was their California Rolls as one cannot forget to put orange pearls while garnishing California Rolls as it is a trade mark for those types of standardized version of that sushi that can never be improvised. So, it was a bit disappointing moment over sushi journey.

* WASABI FILLET 'O' FISH BURGER : Its indeed and surprisingly one of the best dish that I had in The Junkyard Cafe, as it quite unusual that I would have finished off my burger. But, this was indeed one of the best and the tastiest burger. The Fish patty fillet and the amazingly awesome wasabi dip was one of its kind. maybe very mild on flavors but indeed very tasty and a MUST TRY & MUST RECOMMENDED! Costed Rs 545+++ Each Burger.

MAINS

* BULGOGI BEEF : A very nice dish of beef topped on flat noodles. After the irrelevant Beef Ban in a lot of states in India I was indeed still proud that I was able to have this beautiful dish which was good to see in the menu. If I talk about the taste then it was not too amazing to my palate but was still able to quench my hunger for Beef after a long time.

* KHAO SUEY : I have written about the history of Khao Suey in many of my reviews earlier as well and have proudly announced that the best Khao Suey that I've had so far was at Zamozza, CP which was still the same but at The Junkyard it was altogether the different version of the Khao Suey that I had at Zamozza and indeed it was good. Not comparing the taste but still it was good and a thumbs up!

* LAAL MAAS : is a meat curry from Rajasthan, India. It is a mutton curry prepared in a sauce of curd and hot spices such as red chillies. This dish typically is very hot and rich in garlic, the gravy may be thick or liquid and is eaten with chapatis made out of wheat (usually eaten in summers) or bajra (a millet grown in Rajasthan and eaten in the winter months). To be very frank and honest the taste of this dish was simply outstanding and not to be missed at all at any cost. with this we ordered assorted bread basket which was very amazing and delicious and a must try!

DESSERTS

Dessert section was a bit disappointing affair as in their menu there were some of very uncommon and delectable desserts which were totally irresistible but when I asked the server that what would be the best dessert available then I was damn dissapointed as I got to know that only dessert available was Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream. So, I was unable to have the rest and it was actually the Sunday evening so it made me a bit more dissapointed.

FINAL RATING :

My final rating shall be 4 STARS out of 5 STARS as there were some flaws that are quite evident in the initial stage of a newly opened restaurant but I would definitely like to re visit the restaurant for its awesome vibe ambiance and some modifications done over the food and desserts.

Kababs N Rolls, West Patel Nagar

Just a day before Navratra begins I badly wanted to have some flesh. I still remember it was 8 at night and I was not feeling at all energetic as just returned from the office and also was not willing to go out. I had a newspaper early morning where I got a flyer of this outlet called as Kababs & Rolls and decided to give it a try as the menu seems quite appealing to me. The place is very close to my home so i prefer to walk.

While I reached there I saw this place was still busy in some tandoori preparations and the place was still vacant with not much of a crowd sitting inside to have food to which I asked the first available person in the restaurant if they're open to which he politely replied that yes we are open and I can sit inside to have the meal.

If I talk particularly about the ambiance then the place was red and yellow theme based as well the table and the chairs were all red and yellow. while enquiring a bit about the place the owner told me that they also have their branch in Gole Market and is running quite well and this Patel Nagar outlet is the new one else they have quite good and regular customers there as well.

Hearing that I was quite excited and took my seat and asked the server to serve me what they're best at. He straight away suggested that I should definitely try their Tandoori Chicken. To be very frank I am a Die Hard fan of Tandoori Chicken and trust me that almost every non vegetarian Punjabi guy would be the same. I ordered the same and also I asked him to get something in the Rolls as the place is called KABABS N ROLLS. The server suggested me to have their in house specialty which is their Butter Chicken Roll. I straight away placed and order of that as well.

The food arrived one by one quite on time and I do not have to wait at all for the same even though I consider the fact there was no customers sitting inside. Talking about their Tandoori Chicken I ordered Half of the portion as i was alone. It looked very good from outside, Perfect in color Chicken looked quite moist from inside and was well coated with oil(s) and garnished with loads of coriander. when i had a first bite then I got to know that it was not tasting perfect as it was looking the spices were very over powering the whole dish. Was not even closed to the Tandoori chicken as a lot of marination has made it more of spicy instead of being flavorful. And on top of that the coriander was so much that in every bite i was getting a leaflet in my mouth. So, I have to poke in my dish to get the excess of garnishing, which made my Tandoori Chicken experience more non delightful. I do not say that it was bad It has its own taste but cannot be called as a Tandoori Chicken just because it has been cooked in a tandoor. A lot of major role is played by spices and perfect marination in tandoori chicken which makes the dish justifiable.

Later on my second dish that was their very famous Butter Chicken Roll was been served to me and if I talk particularly about its taste then I would say that it was good unlike my Tandoori Chicken. The Butter Chicken Roll was served with onion and Green Pudina Chutney. The Roll size was quite decent and the filling was quite generous at first look till I took the first bite. The Roll outer bread layer was semi flaky well done and the stuffing inside was more of a gravy than the chicken pieces. Moreover there was one problem that I faced while having that roll was that the Butter Chicken Stuffed inside was piping hot and as there was more of a gravy in the roll it was dripping on my hands and making it burn like hell and there was a point that I have to put down the roll and have it like a basic butter chicken with Parantha which was not good as being a roll i would always expect myself holding the wrap of parantha and semi dry butter chicken all in one bite. This issue was been reported by me to the owner as well as he asked for my feedback after the meal. He listened to me very patiently but there was no positive reply or not even a vague promise was forwarded from his side. I payed him the total bill balance and moved on.

Final Verdict

The place is okay to have some Rolls and varieties of snacks that one might love to dig in but if you expect right flavors could really not comment on the same as the place is more likely made to quench your craving for having flesh that would be all. Prices are quite decent but not a place to be expected a lot from. Needs Improvement.
